Richmond School are not telling parents about the travel subsidy available from NYC. We paid around £800 more than we should have for my son to go to Richmond School for A Levels because we paid the school directly for their bus. The school should be making all a level students from Wensleydale aware they should apply for transport through NYC and not through the school.

Very disappointing to hear this proposal, yet another thing being removed from the countryside. Expecting pupils to travel yet again. Generally people who live and work in the countryside are sick of being treated like second class citizens because of where they live. I appreciate that falling rolls have an impact financially but why not bus people the other way to fill these places.

Inevitable given the numbers of students likely to attend. Poor number of subjects available in comparison to Richmond Grammar and Darlington 6th Form College.  Alternative proposal given later in this survey.

Alternatives not considered.  The school building is past its sell by date and should be demolished. Residential user  of the site would produce capital to build a new school possibly near Tennants International Auction House..  It should provide for trades and skills workshops and training for the hospitality and tourism industries in addition to agriculture and associated industries. The primary school children would then have ready access to the primary school without crossing busy roads.

Whilst I understand the constraints and practicalities that have led the decision makers to the proposal to close the Sixth Form permanently, I find it very concerning that it, if enacted, the decision leaves our increasing school age population with such limited future local possibilities. Consideration needs to be given to the cost, inconvenience and impact of students having to travel for alternative provision as some students will be disadvantaged or worse, prevented, from contributing their education because of these barriers.

Constable Burton & Finghall Parish Council understands the need for the permanent change of closing the 6th Form at Wensleydale School.  We highlight the need for appropriate transport for both Richmond 6th Form,  Darlington College & Queen Elizabeth 6th Form from our area.

Middleham Town Council discussed the consultation at its November meeting and discussed the pros and cons of both retaining the provision of the Sixth Form and the discontinuation of the Sixth Form.  The Council feel that this is a regrettable but inevitable decision that the school have to make to close the Sixth Form provision and understand the reasoning behind this decision.
